Gary L. Utter, 64, Martinsville, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at his residence.

He was born on Friday, Jan. 24, 1947 in Martinsville, Indiana, to Cyril and Georgia P. (Hamm) Utter.

Gary retired from Local Union No. 120 working with Milestone Corporation as an asphalt contractor. He was a 1965 graduate of Martinsville High School and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors are his sons, Randy Utter of Martinsville and Mike Utter of Greenwood; mother, Georgia P. (Hamm) Utter of Martinsville; brother, Elmo Utter of Martinsville; sisters, Shirley Malcom, Phyllis Richardson and Carolyn Burkhart all of Martinsville; grandson, Alex Utter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cyril Utter and sister, Joyce Bales.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012 at the Centennial Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012 at Costin Funeral Chapel.

There will be a military service at the graveside.
