Raymond "Bud" Russell

Born: January 28, 1947
Died: October 24, 2015

Raymond R. “Bud” Russell, 68, Martinsville, passed away at 3:12 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Indiana University Health Morgan Hospital emergency room.

He was born on Tuesday, January 28, 1947 in Morgan County, Indiana, to the late Raymond R. and Eva (Bolton) Russell.

Bud was a 1965 graduate of Martinsville High School. He worked for Detroit Diesel Allison as a furnace operator and retired in December 2006 after 29 years. After retirement he worked part-time at NAPA delivering automotive parts.

In high school Bud was a varsity letterman in football, basketball and track. During the 1970's Bud would compete in archery and won several awards and became an accomplished archer. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.

Survivors are his wife, Pamela M. “Pam” (Heiny) Russell, whom he married on October 21, 1977; daughters, Betsey James and husband Eddie of Martinsville and Brittney Esguerra and husband Fabian of Camby; grandchildren, Hunter James, Cole James, Lexie Esguerra, Gaby Esguerra and Mia Esguerra; sister, Rosanne Pfaff of Martinsville; nieces, Marcia Bolin and Beverly Smith; nephews, Butch Fulford and Mark Fulford; many great nieces and great nephews.

Bud was also preceded in death by a sister, Jean Fulford.

Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Costin Funeral Chapel with visitation prior to the service starting at 4:00 p.m.

Burial will be at a later time at Nebo Memorial Park.

A great athlete & strong competitor!  I remember when Coach Razmic first started, he met Buddy and his words were "Now there is a stud!"  He just confirmed what we all had known for years.  If Buddy had your back, you had no worries.  You will be missed!

Buddy was a buddy.his nickname fit him perfectly.I never had enough money to eat lunch at Lambert's Cafe but Buddy made sure I went with him.We all lost a great friend and classmate.R.I. P.
