Michael L. Prather, 64

June 28, 1947 - September 12, 2011

Michael L. Prather, 64, a lifelong resident of Martinsville, passed from this life at 4:29 a.m. after an extended illness on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011.

Mike was the son of the late Ivan Eugene and Mable Kathleen (Schoolcraft) Prather. He was born in Martinsville, Indiana, on June 28, 1947.

He was a member of the Martinsville High School class of 1965, past member of the Martinsville Elks Lodge #1349 and the American Legion Post #230. When his health permitted he enjoyed hunting, golfing, auctions and flea marketing.

On August 27, 1971, he married Delene H. (Pobalis) Prather. She survives in Martinsville.

Mike was employed at Allison’s in Indianapolis for 24 years as an inspector, taking medical retirement in the late 1980s.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 41 years, Delene Prather; brother, Larry Prather of Martinsville and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 5-8 p.m. and one Thursday, Sept. 15, from 10-11 a.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center. Rev. Mike Aldridge will conduct a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in New South Park Cemetery, Martinsville.
