Robert G. ‘Dale’ Allen, 69

PARAGON — Robert G. “Dale” Allen, 69, of Paragon, passed from this life surrounded by his loved ones at 11:33 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. He was the son born to Glenn V. and E. Virginia (Fishel) Allen in Martinsville, Indiana, on December 22, 1946.

Dale graduated from Martinsville High School and was drafted during the Vietnam War on May 10, 1966. He served his country honorably from May 9, 1968, through May 9, 1972.

On July 15, 1979, he married Hilda “Squeek” (England); she survives. He and Squeek lived their entire married life in Paragon where Dale was actively involved in all aspects of his community. He spent countless hours assisting with the Paragon Homecoming, served several years on the Paragon Town Council and had been president of the board. He was also the proud owner of Paragon LP Gas Company for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and his youngest daughter, Tina. He also took pleasure in gardening, scraping and helping others.

Dale will be deeply missed by his family and friends including his wife of nearly 37 years, Squeek Allen of Paragon; parents, Glenn and Virginia Allen of Martinsville; sons, Randy (wife, Stacy) Allen, William “Bill” (wife, Shannon) England and Ricky Allen all of Paragon; daughters, Tina (husband, Mike) Roman and Rebecca Allen both of Paragon; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Dale was preceded in death by his only sibling, Donola Kay “Donni” Taylor in 1998, and one grandchild, Caleb Ray England in 1999.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 3rd, 2016, from noon to 2 p.m. at the New Life Christian Church, 2450 Guy Road, Paragon. A service celebrating Dale’s life will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at the church and burial with military honors will follow in Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon, IN.
