Robert Paul Akers, 64 OCT. 30, 1946 — OCT. 25, 2011 MARTINSVILLE — Robert Paul Akers, 64, Martinsville, passed away at 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Grandview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Martinsville after battling cancer. He was born Wednesday, October 30, 1946, in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Paul and Nola Grace (Hepworth) Akers. Robert was a 1965 graduate of Martinsville High School. He enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, and listening to music. Survivors are his sister, Christine LaMar and husband Randy of Martinsville; brother, Ron Akers and wife Marlene of Colorado Springs, Colorado; niece, Tina Bailey and husband Jay; nephew, Todd Young; two great-nephews and one great-niece. Preceded in death by sister, Sharon Kindred. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011, at Costin Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Aldridge officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior the funeral service. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Martinsville.
