Winter 2016

Well Fall has fell and given way to what started as a pretty balmy Winter. However that soon changed and we are back to cold & snow at least in the states where it normally happens.  Here in TX, it's pretty sunny with an occasional tinge of cold to remind you what it feels like.  Most people just ignore it and continue wearing shorts & flip flops year 'round.  My daughter & her family are getting the full brunt of Winter's fury in VA this weekend.  At last report. they had a foot of snow on the ground with another on the way.

But enough on the weather.  I finally made it back to Indy in time to see some Fall color in late Oct and got to see some of our class at the November lunch at the Legion.  Present were:

Paulette Waltz, Elaine Roe Hacker, Jim Ritter, Sue Cramer Brewer, Larry Babbitt, Pat Thacker Griffin, Stephanie Rehling Eckert, Ed Parker, Jim Baker, Vernon Brown, Rod Williams, Cheryl Sink Fogleman, and Jerry Griffin.

I asked about the newly proposed I-69 route South of Indy, and the consensus was that it would follow 37 to Martinsville and then to Evansville via Bloomington.  That should provide a boost to the Morgan Co economy as well as put the "Gateway to Southern Indiana" on the map!

Also got to do some work on our farm near Brooklyn which, after sitting vacant for a few years, is starting to show signs of life again.  Long term, we hope to become snow birds spending Summers in Indy and winters in TX.

Talked to DON LONG recently .  Don has been shuttling back & forth from his home in VA to FL where his Mother-in-law is staying.  On the way, he was able to have dinner with MARV RHODEN in Port St Lucie.  Sadly Marv & Donna recently lost their daughter, Jennifer, so if you talk to Marv, please convey best wishes.

As far as new members, we have gained a few as a result of the reunion:  Donna Spencer Witcher, Jim McDaniel, Mary Miller, Diane Pitkin, Richard Swayze and Ron Akers.  Please say hi to them if you haven't already.

Also birthday wishes to Larry Babbitt, Vernon Brown, Jim Lusk, Jerry Nordberg, Don Long, Mary Miller Salyers, Diane Wood Williams, Elaine Haire Holler, Paula Lawson Canatsey and Bob Peedin.  (Apologies if I missed you this time)  Congrats on reaching the big 69!  Like someone said "the trick is to keep having birthdays".

Keep warm. Stay safe.  Be well!
